Feed Lake Highlands (FLH) hosted a golf tournament fundraiser at Top Golf Monday night, with food, fun and fellowship to support needy residents of LH. FLH partners with the North Texas Food Bank, Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, the LH YMCA and individual volunteers to fight hunger and feed hope to LH residents struggling with poverty and hunger – both physical and spiritual.

Among the many six-person teams competing were two from the Dallas Police Department.

“The thing about Lake Highlands is, it’s a very community-oriented neighborhood,” said Northeast Division Deputy Chief Andrew Acord. “The Dallas Police Department is very big in community engagement, and this is all part of that. Anything we can do to help the people who live here, it will just make Lake Highlands that much better.  DPD is just happy to be a part of that.”

All twelve play golf, he told me before the action got started, and all are competitive.

“But my team is going to win.”

It was actually the Lake Highlands High School Golf Team with the best score at the end of the evening, but the Chief wasn’t complaining. Everyone had a great time, and Feed LH picked up some much-needed funds for their much-needed work.

Congratulations to Wildcat seniors Calvin Martinez, Johnny Bargas and Cooper Wedding and to juniors Colby Altom, Luke Kirkpatrick and Hayden Harris.

If you missed the chance to donate, you may do so on the Feed LH website here.
