Wainscott just finished his third year as assistant coach at Frisco Centennial, home of the 5A back-to-back state champions. He coached two years at St. Marks School of Dallas before that.

As a wrestler, Wainscott was a product of the Highland Park Scots youth wrestling program, winning multiple state titles. He attended Bishop Lynch High School in east Dallas, earning four TAPPS State Champion and three Prep State Champion titles. His top 5 finishes in two Prep National Tournaments earned him All-American honors, and he finished high school with a 129-25 record.

At Oklahoma State University, Wainscott’s team was 2006 National Champion.

Wainscott follows legendary Wildcat wrestling coach Pete Grieder, who retired from RISD in June after 32 years. Grieder will teach at Bishop Lynch.

A retirement party for Coach Grieder is being hosted by wrestling parents Friday, August 5th from 6-10 p.m. at Ozona Grill’s Club Room, 4615 Greenville Avenue. Former students and parents are encouraged to bring a note or card sharing appreciation and memories.
