In its second season at the Dallas Arboretum, “Garden Gigs” will be happening every Friday night this July. This Friday, July 8, watch Zach Coffey and Ray Johnston Band from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Feel free to bring your own picnic or savor in some of Dallas’ food trucks. Tickets are available for members at $8 and $10 for non-members.

The Bath House Cultural Center’s Festival of Independent Theatres begins this weekend on Friday, July 8. Single-day tickets are $18 while festival passes range in price.

A pop-up reading festival that promotes summer reading is taking place this Sunday, July 10 from 4-6 p.m. at the Half Price Books on Northwest Highway. The event is free to the public and will provide opportunities for kids to meet their favorite authors, make crafts and be in the company of fellow readers.

“The J.I.M. Experiment” returns to the Pocket Sandwich Theater this weekend on Friday and Saturday night for its fifth anniversary. The improv troupe will begin at 11:30 p.m. Information regarding ticket prices is available on the website.

This Sunday, July 10, the Promise of Peace Community Gardens and The Emanuel Community Center will be celebrating neighborhood revitalization with a “Summertime P.O.P. Dinner.” The money raised at the event will go towards a children’s programming and a new garden. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased on the website.
