Where do you live? Where do your kids go to school? Which option do you prefer?

That’s about it.

The Richardson ISD is asking stakeholders from all over the district to weigh in on a topic that has buggered, not just administrators and trustees, but the growth reflector committee, as well: (1) should we build a new K-6 elementary school to handle unrelenting growth in the Lake Highlands feeder pattern, or (2) should we pull 5th and 6th graders from all LH elementaries and build two 5th/6th centers on the grounds of the two junior highs?

Choices, choices.

You can access the survey here or on the district’s RISD.org website.

Trustees aren’t bound by the results of the survey, of course, and they won’t know how individuals responded. Once the results have been tallied, they’ll dive in to the devilish details. If option one is chosen, is the district’s new property at the corner of White Rock Trail and Walnut Hill the right location for an elementary? Will boundary lines be redrawn? Will the new school be a magnet? Will any existing schools get new classrooms?

Stay tuned for more info from Interim Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Stone here on the blog.
