Richardson ISD Superintendent Dr. Kay Waggoner will take a leave of absence, effective immediately, according to a letter sent to district officials Friday. The letter was released on the district website Friday afternoon.
“I have multiple family members with significant health issues who need my support during this time,” Waggoner said in her written statement.
Dr. Jeannie Stone, Deputy Superintendent for Instruction, will assume Waggoner’s responsibilities.
Waggoner’s leave comes less than a month before the May 7 election, which puts the $437 million bond in the hands of voters.
