Wrestling fans line up outside JCPenney, hoping to meet John Cena. This group arrived at about 10 Friday morning, while those closer to the front showed up at 5 a.m.

It’s no joke. The ubiquitous John Cena — celebrity wrestler, internet meme, actor, hulk, hunk, superhero, philanthropist, anime aficionado and the only human to do jorts right — is on his way to our neighborhood JCPenney, the Timbercreek location at 6051 Skillman.

Earlier this week, organizers told us the first 300 attendees will receive autographed John Cena photographs. There might not be 300 people in line yet, but it’s getting close.

So if you want in, drop what you’re doing and go. People have been lining up outside JCP since 5 a.m., according to Junior Gonzales, a twentysomething near the front of the queue who drove in from Lewisville. Lucky for him and his Cena-worshipping contemporaries, the weather has been mild, if a little chilly and breezy.

Celebrity wrestler and actor John Cena appears Friday at JCPenney in East Dallas.

Cena is set to arrive at about 4 p.m., when he will post up in the men’s clothing section to promote the Tapout clothing line — for which he serves as the brand ambassador — meet fans and sign autographs.

“The Tapout brand stands for motivation, discipline and determination, three core values that are key to Cena’s active lifestyle,” say organizers.

John Cena’s fans, including kids who probably should be in school, await his arrival at JCPenney at the Timbercreek Shopping Center. Cena — much beloved by many of today’s youth — holds the world record for granting Make-A-Wish Foundation requests.
