Chimney Hill Apartments, Forest Lane near LBJ
Update at 3:45 p.m.: Police say the toddler has died.
A 22-month-old boy is in critical condition at Medical City Dallas Hospital after being found unresponsive in a pond early Tuesday. The boy’s mom was out of town, but his 20-year-old cousin woke up and realized that he was missing from the condominium. Dallas Police were called, and a search began around 4 a.m.
Residents of the nearby Chimney Hill complex, 9600 Forest Lane between LBJ and Audelia, located the boy floating face down in a small pond near the apartment office. It was unclear how long he had been in the water or how he got out of the condo.
Fire-Rescue personnel performed CPR before transporting him to the hospital. Police said they don’t expect charges to be filed.
