Officers report responding to a 911 call for a health and welfare check at 12:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the victim, described a white female in her 50s, dead as a result of what they call “homicidal violence.”

The victim’s identity  won’t be released to the media until police have had a chance to notify her next of kin.

In March 2015 the Walnut Bend Apartments, located at 9944 Walnut Street, was the site of a high-profile slaying of a newly wed immigrant man who was outside his apartment admiring his first-ever snowfall. In that case, police used surveillance video collected from nearby Audelia Creek Elementary School to track down and eventually arrest a suspect.

“We will release additional information as it becomes available,” the Public Information Officer assures. Check back here for those updates.
