Lake Highlands High School 2012 grad James Lonergan has been named Men’s Basketball Player of the Week by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). Lonergan is a senior at Colorado College.

Lonergan led his team to four wins in five games over 7 days. He earned a spot on the all-tournament team at the 2015 Pikes Peak Holiday Classic.

Also this month, Lonergan was nominated for the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and Allstate Insurance Company Good Works Team. The award honors student athletes who have shown dedication to service in their communities. Lonergan was also nominated his sophomore year.

Lonergan serves as a student trustee for Colorado College and is involved with the President’s Council, Honor Council and Student Athletic Advisory Committee. He is a two-year captain of the basketball team, where he has received the SCAC Character & Community Award and earned a spot on the SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team twice. He volunteers hands-on with Team Impact, which matches chronically and terminally ill children with athletic teams, and with Operation TBI Freedom, which helps veterans with traumatic brain injuries.

The final roster of 20 award recipients will be unveiled in February. Congratulations on your honors, James!
