The Wildcats are poised again to send several wrestlers to the state tournament, winning another tournament this weekend and winning last weekend’s city championship.

Lake Highlands hosted the Tri-State Classic Saturday, hosting 15 teams from far and wide. The Cats dominated, earning the top score of 236 points. Morton Ranch of Katy, Texas was second with 138.

Eleven of 14 starters finished in the top 4 at their weight class. Placing 1st were seniors Socrates Salinas and Domonique Neroes, juniors Daniel Kidd, Carolos Zumwalt and Angel Hernandez, and sophomore Miquel Baltazar. Taking 2nd were senior Tw’quan Clayton and sophomores Max Hayton and Ty Meara. Finishing 3rd was sophomore Colt Brock. Junior Chris Kinsella was 4th.

The team faces Highland Park at HPHS at 6 p.m. on Friday and say they’d love to have a big Wildcat crowd there.

Go Cats!
