Melissa Dease, Youth Services Administrator at the Dallas Public Library downtown, says all Dallas library branches will accept your new and gently used formal wear and pass it along to a girl who could otherwise not afford a dress for prom. She takes dresses year round, she says, but the prom giveaway is in March, so she’d love to have the goods before March 1.

And if your college daughter has formals in her dorm room that she simply cannot, will not wear a second time, ask her to bring those home at Christmas, too.
