The launch of Sundays in the Park at Lake Highlands Town Center is this Sunday. The Lupners, Lake Highlands High School Wranglers, Atomic Pie and LH Creamery will all be on hand to entertain and feed us from 4-6 p.m. It’s a production of the Lake Highlands PID, Dallas City Council District 10’s Adam McGough, Lake Highlands Chamber’s Ted and Carrie Hill, Speck Communications and other partners. The festivities follow the opening of the center’s first retailer, Artistik Edge Hair Salon, which held its groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday.

Saturday’s Forest-Audelia Community Unity Festival is 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Forest-Audelia, in the Aldi parking lot. It features free food, games for kids, an exhibition by first responders, a talk by Lamont Levels, a “positive message” rap battle, K104 personalities, a job fair and more. Deputy Chief Andrew Acord says a new series of community events and projects is about improving relationships between police officers and neighborhood youths in that northeastern sector of Lake Highlands.

Saturday’s Richardson ISD Spirit Run features drum lines and jazz bands along the 5k course. The race starts at 8:30 a.m., and afterward, participants can vote to decide which high school wins the spirit trophy. Proceeds benefit Richardson ISD education programs.
