Chef Andrew Savoie has worked at fine restaurants in New York, New Orleans and Napa, and now he’s opening a taqueria in Lake Highlands, at Walnut Hill and Audelia (9661 Audelia). Resident Taqueria “boasts fresh, made-to-order tortillas, slow-braised meats, seasonal and local produce, and a margarita that elevates the concept of Happy Hour,” according to the restaurant’s website. “We seek to embrace and invest in the community of Lake Highlands and everything it has to offer.” Doors open Oct. 8.

Meanwhile, at Walnut Hill and Plano, Mely’s Bistro also is preparing to open next weekend. Mely’s will serve up Greek, Italian, American fusion. Look for updates regarding an opening reception Oct. 10.
