2. Friday: The Muscle Shoals review at Uncle Calvin’s

Muscle Shoals, Alabama is a blip on the map, but it’s a metropolis in the world of music. Amy Black and Wendy Colonna, two artists with ties to Muscle Shoals, showcase the town’s musical wonders at Uncle Calvin’s Coffeehouse, 9555 N. Central, 214.363.0044, unclecalvins.org, $15-$18

3. Saturday: The Lake Highlands High School Highlandettes‘ “Night in Italy”-themed dinner and silent auction

The ‘Dettes dreamed up this clever event as a way to raise funds for a spring break performance in Italy. The party is from 7-11 p.m. at the KayCee Club in Lake Highlands. 4. All weekend: Autumn at the Arboretum

It might still be 90 degrees, but the 75,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash, plus 150,000 fall flowers tell us it’s fall at the Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Road, dallasarboretum.org, $10-$15

5. All weekend: “Fancy Nancy the Musical” at Dallas Children’s Theater 

Fancy Nancy, the girl with impeccable manners, is rejected for the lead in the school play, and her best friend gets the part.
