A couple weeks ago we announced Steel City Pops is opening a location in Casa Linda Plaza, between the Allstate and Sample House & Candle Shop.
Construction has already begun, and general manager Jonathan Veazey says he’s aiming to open the store in late-October, although “with build-out there’s always a million things that could happen,” he says.
“(Casa Linda Plaza) is a cool area,” Veazey explains. “People go to eat dinner over there. It’s a fun place to hang out, and there are so many families in that area.”
Veazey says this will be the fourth Steel City Pops location in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including the one that opened on Lowest Greenville last year.
This location will be a little different, however, because they won’t actually make any popsicles there. Instead they will bring in popsicles from the Greenville location.
“Our goal with stores like these is to have them close enough to the original store that people know they’re locally made with fresh ingredients, but it’s a little more convenient if you live in the Casa Linda area to pick one up there instead,” he explains. For that reason, the menu will be the same for the Casa Linda location as the Greenville location — which will be their fall menu when they open in October, so expect flavors like pumpkin, carrot cake, eggnog and peppermint.
But then to totally change things up, the Casa Linda location will have a second story inside, where people can hang out to eat their popsicles. “The space currently has a little loft area,” Veazey says. “It used to be an artist loft, but we’re going to use it as a hangout area.” There will also be a patio.
They’ll start with hours from noon to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and noon to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and then they’ll adjust based on how people seem to use the store.
