Miss Oklahoma won the Miss USA Pageant Sunday night, but you probably missed it. With all the controversy over comments by pageant owner Donald Trump, Nielsen says ratings were the lowest in the broadcast’s history.
I can’t catch you up on the real event, but I can hook you up with this hilarious spoof, created by MacKenzie Fegan and featuring Lake Highlands’ own Leslie Collins. The LHHS 1993 grad, now acting in New York, is the clueless “Miss Alabama” in the piece, which asks, “Should math be taught in schools?” (Collins may not believe in math, but presumably she’s high behind world peace and puppies, as all good pageant candidates are.)
Collins, also featured in an American Express spot with Tina Fey and well-known as the Cascade Kitchen Counselor in TV ads, reminds us – and who can argue? – that “math is just a theory.”
Note: So many folks believed this video was real and disparaged the pageant on social media that Snopes.com created an entry to explain that the video was a spoof.
