The rise of craft and micro-breweries — “small producers best known for India pale ales and other decidedly non-Budweiser-esque beers,” as The New Yorker describes them — has been well documented over the past several years. There are some 3,464 breweries in the U.S. and 119 in Texas, according to the latest Brewer’s Association stats, and dozens are slated to open any day. A neighborhood brewery/taproom is a hipster status symbol of sorts, and two Lake Highlands dads are putting our area on the brew map …
After years of fine tuning recipes, searching for a location, garnering the appropriate permits, building, ordering, planning, brewing and tweaking, Lake Highlands’ Brad Mall and Derrin Williams will open the doors to Oak Highlands Brewery Saturday.
Advanced tickets to the grand opening are $15 and gain entry from noon to 9 p.m. plus an OHB pint glass plus koozie and three tokens for beer, live music and an air-conditioned taproom to enjoy the festivities. BBQ food trucks serve food and non-alcoholic drinks for purchase. “Tickets are limited,” say the guys, so swipe ’em up now, here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/oak-highlands-brewery-grand-opening-tickets-17554642408.
They will be $20 at the door, while they last. Only ages 21+ at this particular party.
