MPE students enjoy the Think Kindness assembly
Merriman Park Elementary students kicked off a “Think Kindness” campaign yesterday, hosting an all-school assembly and resolving to inspire kindness in themselves and others. Each child was given a kindness journal and encouraged to perform and document their acts of kindness to others.
The students’ first act is to ask for shoe donations to send to children in Africa, recognizing that children there sometimes can’t attend school for lack of shoes. MPE students are cleaning out their closets and bringing in shoes for kids in need, and they’re inviting the community to join in the project. If you’d like to participate in donating gently used shoes, you may drop them off at the MPE front office, 7101 Winedale at Walnut Hill. If you’d like to learn more about the national Think Kindness initiative (several Richardson ISD schools are participating), visit their website here.
