The first day of December typically marks the last chance to donate clothes and backpacks to the Richardson ISD Clothes Closet. But this year, the volunteer-run nonprofit — sponsored by RISD and the RISD Council of PTAs to assist students in the district lacking sufficient clothing — has received such a high demand for winter coats that it will continue to receive donations through Dec. 15. Specifically, RISD students are in need of clean, like-new jackets, coats, gloves, mittens, scarves, and hats, sized to fit preschool children through adolescents.

Between Dec. 16 and Jan. 1, volunteers will close shop to ready for the spring semester.

To donate, drop items off at the Clothes Closet (970 Security Row) between 9:30 and 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 8 or Monday, Dec. 15. Click here to volunteer.
