The Grief and Loss Center of North Texas (GLCNT) is hosting a fundraising event Tuesday, November 4 at Lakewood Country Club. The Celebrate Hope Dinner and Silent Auction will feature Darlene Ellison, the popular author, speaker and national children’s advocate seen on Oprah, 20/20 and Dateline NBC.

GLCNT is unique – they provide grief support, via individual and group sessions, at the center. They also offer support for schools, faith communities and places of employment at the sites of others. Services are free (GLCNT is funded by donations), and everyone is welcome. GLCNT is located at Wilshire Baptist Church, though they have no religious affiliation.

“Our executive director, Laurie Taylor, is very proud that the center is reaching a more diverse clientele – many different religious backgrounds, socionomic backgrounds, etc.” says Jenny Wolff, 2009 Lake Highlands High School grad and graduate of the University of Arkansas, doing an internship at the center as she prepares for nursing school. “The Grief & Loss Center does not provide counseling services. They were founded on the principle of walking alongside someone in grief. The center fosters a community of support.”

The Celebrate Hope Dinner, chaired by Jennifer Hibdon Redmon and Yvette Patton, begins at 6 p.m. You can purchase tickets here. You may donate to the center here. Learn more here about their services.
