Healing Hands Ministries hosted their 5th Annual Golf Classic yesterday, with 114 golfers enjoying a lovely day at Lakewood.

Tim Terrell, David Parkin, Joe King and Jake King earned first place honors, and Jim Baird, Phil Jones, Bob Gray and Ken Coutant took second. Gill Kirkpatrick, Hack Kirkpatrick, Matt Pickett and Ken Harris were third. Jake King earned the prize for longest drive, and Ron Turner was closest to the pin.
When I asked Tim Terrell to share the secret to his success, his wife, Cindy, a member of Friends of Healing Hands and volunteer at the tournament, answered quickly. “He plays six days a week,” she joked. Tim, though, was pretty sure he knew what brought him the prize. “We made a mile of putts,” he said.
“Today was a beautiful day for golf,” said Healing Hands President and CEO Janna Gardner. “There was an enthusiastic buzz at check-in about Healing Hands being the only nonprofit tournament at the newly redesigned Lakewood Country Club course this year. There was great fun had by all and successful fundraising for a good cause.”
“The weather was perfect and the course was in great shape,” agreed Healing Hands board member Chris Thompson. “Our team may have lacked golfing talent, but we made up for it with enthusiasm for each par or birdie that we made.”
“Our team returned for the second straight year because of the important mission Healing Hands serves,” continued Thompson. “Affordable and reliable healthcare is crucial to the success of any community, and Healing Hands is therefore crucial to making Dallas a top American city.”
