After years of creative brainstorming to capture the small town atmosphere and community spirit of the Lake Highlands neighborhood in Dallas, the Lake Highlands Branding Committee (LHBC) unveiled a new neighborhood brand at Wednesday’s annual LH Public Improvement District (PID) meeting. The brand and the accompanying tagline, “Our Hometown in the City,” will be used on car decals, t-shirts, street sign toppers, social media and other sites in coming months and years.

In their introduction of the brand, committee co-chairs Ginger Greenberg and Robin Norcross noted the white roof with chimney, mature tree colored in LH-red, and 1955 – the year Lake Highlands Elementary opened. The brand will be available in other colors, they noted, making it appropriate for use by all LH schools, teams and organizations.

“We are excited to announce the new brand for Lake Highlands,” said Norcross. “The tagline speaks for the rich tradition and history of our neighborhood and will serve Lake Highlands well as we continue to grow and change.”

Norcross noted the significance of having so many LH-area groups involved in the development process.

“This is the first time all these groups have worked together, which – to me – was as exciting as the finished product.”

The committee included members of the LH Exchange Club, LH Women’s League, LH Junior Women’s League, LH PTA, LH Area Early Childhood PTA and the LH TIF.

The committee formed in 2011 in the home of Joan and Alan Walne, seeking to unite the community under one name and motto. They met regularly and worked with local graphic design firm, One Fast Buffalo, to conduct research and develop the look that communicated all that is best about LH.

The branding committee will meet with community groups in the coming months to introduce the brand and discuss how best to put it to use promoting LH.

Car decals will be available for $3 each or two for $5 at several neighborhood businesses beginning in July. Proceeds will fund expansion of the brand throughout the neighborhood, including on sign toppers, neighborhood and median signs, and on other distinguishing markers.

The new brand is available for public use by contacting Ginger Greenberg at lovelakehighlands@gmail.com, and Ginger encourages LHer’s to “like” and “share” the brand on Facebook on the LoveLH.org page.
