Two new art exhibits begin this Saturday at the Bath House Cultural Center. “Refreshing Journey: Recent Artwork by Jenny Hong DeLaughter” is an exhibition of small-scale paintings representing White Rock Lake and those that gather there. “Light, Whispers and Dreams,” also opening Saturday, features artwork from contemporary Asian artists. Through the use of a variety of styles and media, the six participating female artists from Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan express their thoughts and views on spirituality, communication issues, family history, and the world of dreams and ideas. Attend an opening reception for both exhibits, listen to live Chinese folk music, and meet the artists this Saturday from 7-9 p.m. Free

Early this Saturday morning, runners and a few select goats will congregate at Flagpole Hill for “The Goat Run”: a 5k/10k  in an effort to raise money for nonprofits Seed Effect and Empower Sudan, which benefit the war and famine-affected South Sudan region of Africa. Cost is $20-$45. Learn more and register to join the two and four-legged racers here.
