Lake Highlands freshman Emily Luedke has been named Newcomer of the Year for District 9-5A. She joins sophomores Casey Flinn, Mallory Hale, Mackenzie Jones, Lainey Norris and Tanner Smith and junior Olga Delgadillo on this year’s All-District first team for women’s soccer.
Four more freshmen – Savannah Breedlove, Alex Carvajal, Abbi Parker and Ellie Ratliff – and sophomore Jessica Medina received second team honors.
The particularly young Lady Wildcats squad is primed for a strong start in 2015 after finishing second in district and making the playoffs this year. (They lost to powerhouse Allen.)
The men’s team continues their playoff run, facing Conroe in the regional semifinals Friday at 6 p.m. at the Kelly Reeves Complex in Round Rock. Students interested in attending that game may depart school at 1:30 p.m. and receive an excused absence if their parents sign a permission form at the school and arrange transportation for their student.
All-district team members for the boys will be announced in early May.
Congratulations honorees and go Cats!
