The breakfast panini and drip coffee at Cafe Silva

Cafe Silva, a quaint coffee shop with fresh-baked Monkey bread muffins, lavender-lemon cookies, and rich coffee, has been enjoyed by us here in Lake Highlands for three years now. I’ve stopped by many times to get my caffeine fix and end up being refreshed by views of the White Rock Trail and the Royal Oaks Golf Course before getting back to work.

It had been awhile since my last stop in and I noticed on the chalkboard that the coffee shop now sells paninis, so I opted for the breakfast panini, which includes provolone, egg, turkey, and Serrano peppers.

The sandwich wasn’t pulled out from some refrigerator already packaged — instead, I watched as the sandwich was made to order, and later, made to order again for another customer who ordered the turkey and apple version, (there’s also a banana and nutella panini.)

My sandwich satisfied, and the Serrano peppers, which are definitely a few notches hotter than jalapeños, added a flavorful punch (it can be ordered without peppers, too.) The drip coffee, an Ethiopian blend, was bold and robust without giving me the shakes. Always a plus.

Once again, I left Cafe Silva refreshed and clear-headed. This one-of-a-kind coffee shop can now add “great spot for lunch” to its long list of perks.
