Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church has announced that Rev. Dr. Perryn Rice will be the church’s new senior pastor beginning March 24.
Pastor Rice formerly served as the church’s youth director and associate pastor 17 years ago. Since then he has been serving at churches in Dallas and Waco.
Pastor Rice’s ministry and life experience is extensive: he has 17 years of ministry experience, a Doctor of Ministry from Austin Theological Seminary, and he holds degrees from both TCU and Bethel University. He also has experience as a stand-up comedian and rhythm and blues singer.
The father of two has been married 14 years to his wife, Terri. In an announcement on the Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church website Rice says that he becomes “a better preacher, pastor, and person each second I’m with Terri.”
Pastor Rice also says that his son and daughter are gifts from God and both serve as inspirations for his ministry.
“Whenever I see them and then the world they will grow up in, I know I have more sermons to preach.”
