If you love popping into the Original Cake Ball Company’s Northwest Highway storefront to stock up when you’re having a party or to sneak a little treat for yourself, you’ve only got one more month to do it. Loyal fans on their mailing list received emails this week that the production facility will relocate and the shop will close March 29th. Future operations will focus on internet shipping, wholesale, catering and corporate business. Dallas delivery by courier will be available.

After they close, if you’d still rather pick up your order, OCBC has teamed up with Times Ten Cellars on Abrams in Lakewood. You may place your order online, by phone or by email, and they’ll have it ready for pick up. (You might even enjoy browsing Times Tens’ extensive wine selection.)

Uninitiated? Cake balls are bite-sized orbs of moist, delicious cake blended with rich icing and surrounded by a decadent chocolate coating. The hand-made treats come in a wide variety of flavors, from red velvet to sea salt caramel to Irish Crème to chocolate toffee.

Meanwhile, cake balls in bakery boxes will be on sale for $1 each until the storefront closes. They’re open Tuesday-Friday from 11 to 5:30 and Saturday from 11 to 2 (closed Sunday and Monday). The shop is located at 10230 E. Northwest Highway near Easton.
