Fender benders were the norm Thursday, as snow and ice on Lake Highlands roads kept travelers on their toes. (This unfortunate driver at Lemmonwood and Stone River across from Arbor Park, couldn’t navigate the Skillman bridge and ended up crashing through my neighbor’s garage.) Luckily, most made it home safely after heading off to work or taking the kids to school.
The snow didn’t add up to much, but that didn’t keep intrepid sledders – inspired by the Olympics, no doubt – from attempting to slide down any hill they could find.
Threats of more snow Friday caused skittish schools around the area, including Richardson ISD, to call off classes, and students rejoiced. They may be sad when the Richardson ISD starts talking about making up snow days, but for now it’s all hot chocolate and cold snowmen.
Classes are expected to resume Monday.
