Guitar Center, the popular national musical instrument retailer with a full-service store at Central and Southwestern, has opened an outlet at Royal Lane at Central Expressway. The bare bones shop has concrete floors, makeshift tables and hand-drawn signs, but the prices are 25 to 75% off those in the stones-throw-from-NorthPark store.
When I visited, I found clearance, closeouts, returned goods and items sometimes (but not always) separated from their original boxes or packaging. Most shoppers inside were serious bargain hunters, so if you know what you’re looking for (or have your trusty smart phone in hand to read Music Critic reviews), you may save some serious money.
Guitar Center Outlet is open Wed. through Sat. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday noon to 6. They’re closed Monday and Tuesday.
