As we get ready to send the offspring back to post winter-break classes Tuesday, some notes from the Richardson ISD:

The district will hold a public meting next Monday (Jan. 13) at 7 p.m. to discuss its 2012-13 Annual Performance Report. It is at the RISD Administration Building, 400 S. Greenville.

Each month the RISD Child Nutrition Department highlights a piece of produce to which students might not have been previously exposed. The students learn about the selected item in class the day before they try it in an effort to “generate excitement and curiosity about the produce item of the month.” Last month was pumpkin, in the form of crustless pumpkin pie.

The RISD coaches voted recently to determine the 2013 All-City Football awardees, naming two Lake Highlands High School standouts: Coach of the Year is Scott Smith, LHHS and Tyler Hughes was named Most Valuable Player.
