Essay writing workshop …

… features information, strategies and formats for students aiming to write effective college essays, which typically are a key component of the college application.
The third of four college information sessions offered by RISD, this workshop will be held at Richardson High School on Monday, Nov. 4 from 4:45 – 6:15 p.m. Student mentors from the University of Texas at Dallas will be available to assist RISD students with college essay writing strategies, organizers say. Open to all RISD students and parents.

The Spirit Run …

… benefitting Richardson ISD, is Saturday, Nov. 9 at 8:30 a.m. at Galatyn Park. Runners are “guaranteed to be entertained by high school drum lines, jazz bands and dancers every step of the way,” organizers say. The fans, like the runners, will be motivated by competition; the most-spirited high school will win the “coveted spirit trophy”.  Register online for $30 or donate, here.

The world premiere of Musica Nova Orchestra …

… a symphony commissioned to celebrate the new Edith O’Donnell Arts and Technology building at University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, is open to district families at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. Tickets are just $10.

Violinist Chloe Trevor will accompany the choir. World-renowned Robert Xavier Rodriguez composed the featured piece “On the Nature of Things”.
