Drive-thrus are greasy. TV dinners are unappetizing. Going out to eat takes too much energy. All you really want is a home-cooked meal, but who has time for that? That’s where Super Suppers comes in handy. The little storefront in Lakewood Shopping Center has made it their business to help neighbors get dinner on the table quickly and easily. “Everybody’s got too much to do and too little time, so we’re catering to busy people,” says owner Christine Calhoun. Super Suppers is best known for its nightly sessions allowing customers to make their own freezer-to-oven meals – the genius being that if the recipe calls for a half cup of diced onions, a container of diced onions with the appropriate-sized measuring cup is at the ready. These sessions are still the best value, Calhoun says, but she has found that her customers need more flexibility. Now, they can stop in pretty much any time of the day to make meals, or for just a couple bucks more, simply grab one already made from the freezer. And for those last-minute folks who don’t have time to thaw, Calhoun recently added a refrigerator with over-ready entrees, desserts and handmade salads.
