In a couple weeks, the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas will host College Journeya 5-day workshop held at the University of Texas at Dallas where girls will be mentored by professionals and exposed to careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).The camp for entering 9th-10th graders is already full, but the new week-long Cadette camp for girls entering 7th and 8th grade is still available June 23-28.

“We are excited to offer this opportunity to younger girls this year for the first time,” says Colleen Walker, CEO, Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas.“STEM careers are growing twice as fast as any other sector, yet we rank 21st compared to other industrialized nations in terms of math and science educational achievement. By involving girls at an early age in STEM activities and with access to STEM role models, we hope to encourage more girls to pursue career paths related to science and math.”
