Former Wildcat Desmond Roland made a splash on national TV Saturday night with an 81-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the Oklahoma State vs. Kansas State football game. The exciting play had Lake Highlands football fans leaping to their feet in front of television sets around the neighborhood, and even veteran sports announcer Brent Musburger and the rest of the crowd in Manhattan, Kansas couldn’t help but admire his performance.

D-Ro, as we often called him when he played for the Wildcats before he graduated in 2011, played some last year as a true freshman, carrying the ball 17 times for 95 yards. He rushed for 1,300 yards his senior year at LH and was ranked 15th among receiver prospects in the nation by Scout.

With both teams highly ranked, Saturday’s game drew a big audience. Despite his heroic efforts, though, Desmond’s Cowboys came up short, 44-30.
