I thought I was finished being impressed by Alexandra Atalis. I was wrong.
I’ve written about Alex before: 2009 LHHS Valedictorian, Highlandette, Homecoming Queen. Officer in her UT sorority, winner of a Texas Exes Forty Acres scholarship – basically a full ride.
This time, the biomedical engineering major has been working on a cure for cancer and studying abroad at Cambridge in England. She says the complexity of working in a lab and the challenges of rigorous academic studies help her cope with pain in her personal life. Her mom, Elaine, was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.
You can read the inspiring story of Alex’s remarkable achievements here. And, if you think she’s completely bowled you over, join me in waiting for her next triumph.
