Pinkalicious, also known as actress Emily Lockhart, traded pink for green (metaphorically) when she gave the “Pinkalicious Green Team Award” to students at Vickery Meadow Community Gardens and Stonewall Gardens yesterday. The gardens are used as outdoor classrooms for students at Jill Stone Elementary and Stonewall Jackson Elementary.

The award recognizes the students for “bravely growing healthy greens,” according to a press release—a big acknowledgment coming from a character who learns to stop eating so many pink cupcakes and find the fun in green foods.

The Dallas Children’s Theater production of “Pinkalicious the Musical” will continue the fun as it premiers Friday, Sept. 21 with a pre-show and intermission party that will include a pink carpet, cupcakes donated by Sprinkles, photo ops with Pinkalicious and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas mascot, the Blue Bear, who apparently missed the pink memo.

Onstage, you’ll see the costume designs of Lily Forbes—who we wrote about in July—the Hockaday fifth-grader who won the DCT’s competition. The show runs through Oct. 21 and prices range from $14-$40.
