If you saw our July 4th LH events post, you already know you can continue the week’s festivities with the Independence Day 5k/10k at Winfrey Point. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 7 and the race starts at 8:00 a.m. Kids can do crafts and participate in their own race, too. Cost is $10, but members of the Dallas Running Club get in for free. Volunteers are needed.

Lean back in a lawn chair with some grilled food and a beer at Lawnchairs & Longnecks at the Whole Foods location at 8190 Park Lane. Throughout the store you’ll find food samples in addition to their regular tasty dishes. Stop by between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 7.

Talk with the minds behind the masterpieces at a reception Saturday, July 7 from 7-9 p.m. as the Bath House Cultural Center gallery collaborates with the 14th annual Festival of Independent Theatres, which has a great lineup scheduled this year. The reception, held at the Bath House at 521 E. Lawther Drive, will give you a chance to mingle with visual artists from Fictional 3, an interpretation of the plots of eight short plays that will be presented at the festival.
