The high temperatures over the last week may have been pushing 100, and it may seem like we’ve settled into July weather six weeks early. But this hot spell, as unpleasant as it has been, isn’t that out of place. It’s just another part of weather in North Texas.
The average temperature in May, according to the National Weather Service, is supposed to be 84. So far this month, we’ve averaging 86. In fact, we’ve been nowhere near any records for highs. And the weather service reports four 100 readings in May since 1899, including 107 in 1927. That’s a horrible thought, no? 107 without air conditioning.
