Members of the United States Armed Forces, past and present, are invited to be special guests at the Lake Highlands Freshman Center choir department’s annual Patriotic Concert this Thursday night. Honorees will be recognized throughout the show for the contributions they have made to keep our country safe and free.

Also at the event will be a display of photos from family members of students who served. Students have been encouraged to make the event a family project, chatting with relatives to hear of service experiences and listening to stories from previous generations. To start off the collection, LHFC Principal Bill Gallo contributed a photo of his own father, who recently visited the school to share his wartime memories with awestruck students.

Alumni of the LHFC choir are encouraged to take the stage and join in the closing number, “God Bless America.”

The concert will cap an exceptional year for the choir. They earned outstanding scores at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading contest and swept the competition at the Meyerson Symphony Center, earning Best in Class and Grand Champion honors.

The Patriotic Concert May 24th begins at 7:30pm in the LHHS auditorium. Admission is free.
