March 2011, a man in a dark pickup truck attempts to grab 76-year-old Sabra Leavy’s purse. Instead of a clean getaway, the suspect drags the woman through the Forest Lane Walmart parking lot, running her over in the process.

It took about two days for Leavy to die, about the same amount of time it took police to arrest 28-year old Rogelio Belmonte, who plead guilty to the offense. Kaitlin Edmonson, who was in the car with Belmonte at the time of the incident has also plead guilty and has testified in Belmonte’s sentencing phase, which is in process.

Today, CBS news cameras captured Leavy’s daughter in court recounting her mother’s heartbreaking final days, the gut wrenching testimony of an eyewitness, and Belmonte’s extemporaneous apology.
