New signs are up and homeowner emails are making the rounds warning pet owners and parents to beware of snakes at Harry S. Moss Park. After a dog was bitten by a copperhead in the park at Greenville Avenue and Royal Lane, pet owners are being advised to keep a closer eye on their beloved animals. Recent heavy rains are believed to have rousted the snakes from their dens.
Copperheads are natural to wooded areas, so park enthusiasts are advised to take caution when venturing into the more natural areas or stick to the more groomed portions temporarily.
