Watch a little 3-on-3 at Hoops in the Highlands this Saturday, where first- through eighth-grade neighborhoods kids will compete at this fundraiser for Lake Highlands, Northlake, Wallace and White Rock elementaries as well as Lake Highlands Junior High. Food and entertainment are part of the big day — the Hoops Facebook page mentions that the LH cheereaders, Highlandettes, Steppers, Bell Boys and Round Up Band will perform — and don’t forget the Fun Zone for the little ones.

The Wranglers won’t be performing at Hoops, likely because their annual country and western dance-off with the Berkner Ramblers, Pearce Stampede and Richardson Desperados this Saturday at noon in the Richardson High School auditorium.

“Anne of Green Gables” at the Dallas Children’s Theater starts on Friday March 23 and runs through April 1. The play is based on the first book in the series by L.M. Montgomery (my favorite books, incidentally), and tells the story of Anne Shirley, a spirited orphan who finds herself on Prince Edward Island with adoptive parents who are initially disappointed to find out that she’s not a boy.

White Rock Rowing hosts an open house Saturday, 9-11 a.m. for middle and high school students and their families.

Support three children whose parents were tragically killed in an accident at Sunday morning’s Berry Family 5k, put on by area residents.
