The Store in Lake Highlands, located in the northeast corner of Northwest Highway and Ferndale, has been in business 10 years now. To celebrate, owner Cheryl Calvin, who founded the treasure-stuffed boutique in 2002 and expanded in 2009, is hosting an in-store party Thursday-Saturday, March 1-March 3.
Here’s the plan, from Calvin:
Trailercakes, the best tasting cupcake you have ever had, will be at The Store March 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Your first cupcake that day will be on The Store. “Bubbles”, the Trailercakes vintage Airstream trailer, will be loaded with lots of flavors. Everyone who walks in the door through Saturday will get a party favor and a re-useable shopping bag, while supplies last. You also get 20% off your purchases that can fit in your bag (some restrictions will apply). Register for door prizes and participate in the “Cake Walk” every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Calvin grew up in Lake Highlands, attended White Rock Elementary and Lake Highlands Junior High. Her dad, Dr. Joe Lindley, is the veterinarian of the Lindley Animal Hospital in the neighborhood. She is a member of the Lake Highlands Women’s League and a bigtime Wildcat sports supporter. Calvin tells us that her mother owned a store in Salado, TX for years, so the retail business was in her blood. She and her husband, Shane, say they believed the White Rock/Lake Highlands area would be the perfect place to both live and raise a family and start their business. As much as people around here love and support The Store, it’s pretty clear they were right.
