Alums of Dallas Ballet Company in Lake Highlands are eagerly anticipating DBC’s 25th anniversary performance of The Nutcracker in December. The holiday classic has been a tradition of LH families for a quarter century, whether they had a family member dancing on stage or sat spellbound and delighted in the audience.

Special this year will be a Dinner Reception and Cast Party following the final Sunday matinee performance, allowing former students and their families to reconnect with each other and congratulate the current cast. Founding directors Judy and Brent Klopfenstein will be on hand to welcome their former dancers home.

DBC’s Nutcracker, with more than 150 dancers participating, will feature guest artists Sterling Hyltin and Jason Fowler, both Dallas natives. Jason, a former soloist with the New York City Ballet, originated the role of the Nutcracker Prince in DBC’s first production of the Nutcracker in 1987.

Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday December 2 and 3 at 7pm, with 2pm matinees Saturday and Sunday. The show will be held in Garland’s Granville Arts Center, and $20 tickets are available by calling 972-205-2790. For more information on the dinner reception, visit the DBC website here. Tickets for the dinner buffet are $20 for adults ($10 for current students), or you can sponsor a reserved table. (Photo by David Harris.)
