Lake Highlands Freshman Center has been named a 2011 Texas Higher Performing School by the National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA). The recognition program, formerly known as Just for the Kids, honors schools for student achievement on the TAKS test and/or consistent improvement in performance over time.

“I am very proud of our staff and students,” said Bill Gallo, LHFC’s principal. “They have worked very hard and this is another positive example of the wonderful things going on at LHFC.”

NCEA developed a method in comparing schools which accounts for demographic differences among student populations. About 10% of Texas campuses were honored this year, including Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet, also located in Lake Highlands.
