Say goodbye to all those good girlish figures around White Rock. Hypnotic Donuts is coming to the ‘hood (well, they are coming to the south side of the lake, but it’s close enough to Lake Highlands for us to love this).

The innovative and previously nomadic (until they implemented set hours at a North Dallas pizza place) doughnut shop will start construction today on its first fully operational storefront right near White Rock Lake. Look for it in January 2012 on Garland Road, near Barbec’s.

In case you didn’t know, Hypnotic Donuts has turned doughnut-making into an art. Legit. We’re talking chocolate cake doughnuts, gooey cinnamon caramel doughnuts and doughnuts with maple syrup and bacon. Yeah.

Here’s a story we wrote about them in Far North Dallas Advocate.

The new store will operate seven days a week at 9007 Garland Road, Dallas, TX 75218.

Halloween doughnut!

“We chose to open our first store in east Dallas close to White Rock Lake because of the friendly neighborhood vibe and the enthusiasm residents have for local business,” said James St. Peter, owner and creative mastermind behind Hypnotic Donuts. “Our store is conveniently located on Garland Road, just south of Casa Linda Plaza and north of the Dallas Arboretum. It’s a convenient stop for those on their way to work looking for a morning pick me up or athletes enjoying White Rock Lake looking to reward themselves with a well-deserved treat.”

More from the owners:

Construction of the new store will begin November 1st. Hyppies, as patrons are known, will enjoy a casual in-store experience with seating at the donut and coffee bar, or lounging on the sofas and living room chairs. Standard chairs and tables will be placed throughout the space as well. In following St. Peter’s Hyppie mantra, Hypnotic Donuts will upcycle/recycle as much as possible, expect to see reclaimed furniture and décor from local vintage, resale, thrift and charity stores. To further utilize local talent, local artist have been commissioned to paint a mural of well-known hippies throughout history giving customers the joy of sharing a Hypnotic experience with their favorite hippies. Also, coffee will be supplied by locally owned and award winning Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters and will be brewed by the French press method.

“As a Dallas-based business, we want to make the community part of our business plan. By carrying Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters coffee, partnering with local artists and decorating with recycled furnishings, we are on the right track to keep business in Dallas and continue to attract locally-owned businesses to the neighborhood,” noted St. Peter.

Hypnotic Donuts will continue operating out of The Pizza Guy until the end of November. Updated store progress can be tracked via their Facebook and Twitter page.
