The Morning News reports tonight that an arrest has been made in the stabbing death last week of a Lake Highlands woman, 50-year-old Shearl Bennett, who lived in the 9800 Block of Royal Lane.
William Langrum, 27, was arrested after attempting to steal a bag of clothing at knifepoint, according to the News‘ Avi Selk and contributing reporters, and police later charged him with capital murder in the Bennett case.
Details are slim because the investigation is ongoing, but police say Bennett was probably killed for her purse. There was a second man with Langrum, 18-year old Jeremy Francis. Francis, like Langrum, has been charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest, but not yet with murder.
