The Lake Highlands High School band is chipping in to help the victims of recent wildfires sweeping Central Texas.

LHHS band members and their families are reaching out to Bastrop and Smithville band members and their families, many of whom have lost homes and possessions in the fires.

At Lake Highlands High School, donation stations for paper goods, cleaning supplies and toiletries are set up in the band hall. Students may bring items to school and drop them off here. Also, you can deliver checks payable to the LHABC with “Bastrop” in the memo line, or Wal Mart, Target or Home Depot gift cards to the LHHS band hall safe. Note: We are told that clothing, food and water are not a priority at this time.

Also, instruments that students are no longer using can also be donated — the Bastrop band members altogether have reportedly lost about 50 instruments.

The band director, Jeff Bradford, and volunteer parents and students this weekend will deliver the collections to the Central Texas schools.
