Lake Highlands is gearing up for its first action of the season at 10 a.m., Aug. 19, at Homer B. Johnson Stadium against South Garland.
In case you forgot, this is the same Colonels team that knocked LHHS out of the playoffs in the first round last year. I’m not trying to bring back old stuff, just wanted to keep history prevalent.
This one doesn’t matter on that scale, but it will be the best opportunity for the Wildcats to get an idea of what they might be capable of in the 2011 football season.
That’s why right now, the two-a-days are in session. It’s the first opportunity for the Wildcats coaching staff to get a look at what the individuals accomplished during the summer, and who might fit where in the fall.
The practices will last through Aug. 18, and then the student-athletes will begin school on Aug. 22.
FOR MOMS ONLY
On Wednesday, August 1o from 7-9 p.m., player moms can meet the coaches and get a Football 101 from the Wildcats coaching staff.
Parent involvement is one of the best assets for a successful program, and the Wildcats coaches are giving moms a chance to understand how they can be part of that. Check it out.
