A Lake Highlands-based developer gained approval to build a retail development on 3 acres at Northwest Highway and Lake Highlands Drive.
It’s at the southeast corner of the intersection, where there is an old car wash. Prudent Development owns the acreage and has plans for retail development, which most likely will be pad sites for neighborhood services, such convenience stores or restaurants.
Part of the 3 acres was zoned for commercial development, and part of it was zoned residential, but the City Plan Commission approved a zoning change last week.
Prudent has not lined up potential tenants yet, but they are confident the site will draw some.
“We like the location and the visibility on Northwest Highway for retail,” says Prudent vice president Gary Fullington.
